Hammerton Brewery – City of Cake Chocolate Fudge Cake Stout

This beer is a deep and rich milk stout, balancing roasted coffee and chocolate notes with sweetness and caramel aromas. Made with roasted malts and milk sugars, this beer is like a fudge brownie in a glass.

Hammerton Brewery is a microbrewery based in Islington brewing small batch beers with the aim to bring great tasting beer back to the borough and also re-establish the Hammerton Brewery name in London.

WE SAY

Hammerton Brewery have really pushed on after the release of their first special (and now core) flavoured stout Crunch. Crunch was brilliant and this has very similar hallmarks. There’s nothing in the breweries description we can argue with. It’s big and bold and full of all the big notes from those big hitting flavours. Personally I found it was leaning slightly more towards a coffee cake style than fudge but it’s quite a thin line as both those flavours are quite similar. 440ml is a lot of this kind of beer but it is testament to it’s brewing that it wasn’t a chore to finish it and it was enjoyable down to the last sip.
